Syllabus
Curriculum and scheme of examination, by programme.
Each programme has a syllabus approved by the Academic Council, published per session. A student is examined against the syllabus in force at their year of admission.
Scheme of examination
Every theory paper carries 100 marks, divided between continuous internal assessment and the end-semester examination. Practical papers carry 50 marks, assessed on laboratory work, a record book and a viva voce.
| Component | Theory paper | Practical paper |
|---|---|---|
| Continuous internal assessment | 30 marks | 20 marks |
| End-semester examination | 70 marks | 30 marks |
| Total | 100 marks | 50 marks |
| Minimum to pass, per paper | 40% | 40% |
| Minimum aggregate to pass a semester | 45% | 45% |
Internal assessment
Internal assessment for a theory paper is made up of two sessional tests, assignment work and attendance. Marks are displayed by the department before submission to the examination cell so that a student can query an error before results are compiled.
Grading
| Marks (%) | Grade | Grade point |

| 80 – 89 | A | 9 |

SGPA is the credit-weighted average of grade points for a semester; CGPA is the credit-weighted average across all semesters completed. A student carrying a failed paper is shown as ATKT and may carry it forward, subject to the limit set in the programme regulations.
