Foundation

Why the university was established, and what it set out to do.

The university was founded to widen access to professional and technical education in western Rajasthan. Students from Jodhpur and the surrounding districts had historically travelled to Jaipur or outside the state for engineering, management and pharmacy education. The founding intent was to make those programmes available locally, at a cost families in the region could meet.

Objectives

  1. Provide undergraduate and postgraduate education in engineering, management, pharmacy, computer applications, law, education, and the arts, commerce and sciences.
  2. Maintain teaching laboratories and workshops sufficient for the practical component of each programme.
  3. Support research supervision at doctoral level within the faculties.
  4. Extend the university’s resources to the surrounding community through outreach and extension activity.
  5. Keep curricula aligned with the requirements of the professions students enter.

Character of the institution

The university is a private institution, funded by student fees rather than a state grant. That places a particular obligation on transparency: fee schedules, examination procedures and the status of every certificate the university issues should all be verifiable by the student and, where relevant, by an employer. The certificate verification service on this site exists for that reason.
